Trees are important, valuable and necessary for the existence of any living creature on earth. Oxygen production, cleaning the soil, controlling noise pollution, slowing down storm, water runoff, acting as carbon sinks, cleaning the air, providing shade and coolness, being windbreaks and fighting soil erosion can be considered just the first few reasons why trees are priceless.

The way Trees are being cut, the day is not far when people will be dying for want of fresh air & new generations will be carrying oxygen masks to sustain the life & perhaps venturing out in open will be a luxury. Trees remove CO2 from air which is a major reason for global warming. Trees clean and freshens the air. Tree foliage works as a natural air filter of particulate matter such as dust, micro sized metals and pollutants such as ozone, nitrogen oxides, ammonia and sulfur dioxides. Trees take in carbon dioxide and produce oxygen. Combined with the cooling effect of trees, these processes can have a significant impact on reducing smog and overall air pollution.
Save TreeThere's a number of ways to save trees. Trees are crucial to our environmental system and need to be taken care of as much as possible. They come with an unlimited number of benefits to our world. If we try to save trees, our air will remain away of impurities. Trees absorb carbondioxide, pollutants like sulphur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide, allowing us to breathe clean oxygen. A mature tree will produce as much oxygen for 10 people in one year. There are many benefits we can gain if we try to save trees. They provide us with noise barriers and create shade to cool the hot weather. Places can get up to 6 degrees hotter when there are no trees to block the sun. In the winter, they block the cold force of wind. The Central Board of Secondary Education (abbreviated as CBSE) is a Board of Education for public and private schools, under the Union Government of India. It supports various schools in imparting
MOOCs Engine
knowledge and maintaining uniform standards. Besides this, it is a self-financing body which is responsible for developing the curriculum for schools that are affiliated to it. CBSE affiliates all Kendriya Vidyalayas, all Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, private schools, and most of the schools approved by central government of India. Moreover, the board has established certain norms that need to be followed by these schools.
However, opening a CBSE school anywhere in India demands a lot of commitment and a large amount of investment. However, the unending demand for more schools has paved way for budding entrepreneurs to start their own venture.
Examinations: The board conducts final examinations every spring for All India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE) for Class 10 and 12.The board also annually conducts the AIEEE exam for admission to undergraduate courses in engineering and architecture in numerous colleges spread over India. It also conducts AIPMT (All India Pre Medical Test) for admission to major medical colleges in India.
The following essentials need to be taken care of while opening a CBSE school:
Finance/capital - Investment is the first pre-requisite for opening a school anywhere in India. This investment should accommodate all the necessary infrastructure & furniture, teaching & sports equipment, laboratory apparatuses, stationary etc. Typically, an investment of around 2 to 3 Crores is required. This can be arranged by approaching financial institutions or banks that provide loans for this purpose.
MOOCs EngineRegistration - Registration of the school committee under a Trust/Society is the next important step. It is essential to get a proper guidance related to all the rules & regulations for the proper running of the school.
Site & land - The minimum land area for opening a CBSE school in a metropolitan city with a population exceeding 25 lakhs is approximately 1 acre which can further vary in accordance with the type of school and the location you choose. The land requirement is almost the same in hilly areas also. However, in all the other places, the land area should not be less than 2 acres. The land can either be leased (with a rental agreement of minimum 30 years) or can be your own property. Further, the site chosen should be such that it provides easy accessibility from all modes of transport.
Procurement of NOC - The NOC (NO-Objection Certificate) needs to be obtained from the government of the state where you are planning to open a CBSE school because then only you will be able to start the construction of your school.
Construction - On one part of the land, a proper school building should be constructed depending upon the number of students to be accommodated in the school. Besides this, a playground big enough to accommodate all the necessary sports and Extra-curricular facilities should be maintained on the remaining part of the land.
CBSE affiliation - For obtaining CBSE affiliation, a list of documents namely, the NOC obtained from state government, approval from the Municipal Corporation of the state and clearance from the Health department needs to be submitted to the board authority.
Recruitment - Recruiting a qualified and experienced staff is essential to create & maintain excellent education system in the school.
Promotion - Finally, marketing and advertising your school in the neighboring areas is important for the successful establishment of your school. This will further help you to attract more number of admissions.
Any other necessary requisites can be dealt after the establishment once the school starts running.

Lohri: A Festival celebrated every year with new zeal and enthusiasm!

Lohri is a popular festival, celebrated by Punjabi people of the Indian subcontinent, particularly of Hindu and Sikh faith. The festival of Lohri which marks the end of winters is celebrated across most Northern parts of India, especially in Punjab and Haryana. Lohri is celebrated every year on 13th January, a day before Makar Sankranti (another religious festival), in the month of Magh (a season as per the Sikh calendar). Being one of the harvest festivals of Punjab, Lohri holds great significance for the people residing in the state and even for many other states. The festival of Lohri is considered to be extremely auspicious, as it marks the entry of the Sun into the ‘Makar Raashi’ (Sun Sign: Capricorn).
Over time, people have associated Lohri to the tale of Dulla Bhatti. The origin of the festival is related to the central character of most popular Lohri song i.e., Dulla Bhatti, a robber who lived in Punjab during the reign of Emperor Akbar. Although he was a robber, he used to release Hindu girls who were forcibly sold in the slave markets of Middle East. After rescuing those girls, he used to arrange their marriages to Hindu boys. This noble cause changed his image from a being a dacoit into a hero. Hence, every Lohri song has words to express thankfulness to Dulla Bhatti.

Traditional Celebrations

In the morning, little boys and girls go door-to-door singing the famous song related to this festival i.e. ‘Sundar mundariye hoye’, to collect the funds for the community bonfires, to be lit-up in the evening. Huge wooden logs are arranged together for a bonfire. Once the bonfire is lit, people take three rounds of the bonfire and pray to the Agni (Fire As God) for abundant crops and prosperity, simultaneously putting in popcorns, peanuts and rayveris(a sweet). Once the prayers are over, the Prasad (SACRAMENT) of til (SESAME Seeds), peanuts, rayveri, puffed rice, popcorns, gajak(jiggery and peanuts caramelized) and sweets is distributed. Following this, people perform the traditional Punjabi folk dances- Bhangra and Giddha around the bonfire.

Some tips to celebrate
  • Tell your children the story behind celebrating Lohri.
  • Dress-up your children in new traditional clothes.
  • Teach your children the famous Dulla-Bhatti song.
  • Brighten up your home by decorating it with lights.
  • Invite your relatives and friends at your place to celebrate the festival of Lohri together.
  • Prepare traditional dishes such as Sarson da Saag, makki ki roti, kurmure laddu etc.
  • Encourage your children to plant new trees and saplings; since a lot of trees are cut down to arrange the wooden logs for the bonfire.
So, stay safe and celebrate Lohri with family and friends with happiness and joy.
