MOOCs : Initiative towards spreading Education without any constraints

MOOCs is an innovative step towards spreading higher education globally to masses without any set barriers like availability, time etc. MOOCs has acquired a name which is  globally known, trusted and well appreciated by people who are already associated or willing to be associated. MOOC allows its students to have any time access via web to its massive range of courses. It provides a technically advanced approach towards obtaining knowledge and easy learning. It helps a student in having access to wide variety of online courses along with the privilege to study according to one’s own convenience. Almost all the higher courses of nearly every field are available with good quality study material in written as well as in interactive forms. With the availability of internet in remote areas MOOCs has made it possible for many people to avail the benefits of higher education without attending regular classes or not being able to earn simultaneously. With many courses being free of cost it is more affordable & easily available with just access to internet.

 MOOCs future remains bright with growing preference of technology all over the world. The learning is more effective and free willed than time bound and regular. We all are aware of the basic rights in India one of them being Right to Education.  India is still struggling to make a mark with this Right and in such a scenario MOOCs can really work wonders in accommodating education in every nook and corner.  It’s a remarkable step towards establishing Distance Education in a technologically advanced manner. 

MOOCs: Massive Open Online Course helps in building a platform for students and teachers to form a community wherein a give and take approach for knowledge sharing is implemented. It provides expert opinions with up-to-date knowledge. The most important thing that can help a student to succeed in an online course is interpersonal interaction and effective learning methods. By making the learning and assessment methods more interesting MOOCs is heading towards a growing acceptance rate. MOOCs is more flexible and being an innovative technology in itself it has shown significant success. It is coming up as a challenge to educational institutions that have a set limit in providing every sort of course considering the cost and other factors. With the growing need of a Masters degree in offices for Management positions people are likely to prefer such courses whereby they get a chance to earn along with studying according to their time availability.

Like any other concept MOOCs has its own shortcoming like lesser % of people completing the course and the lacking awareness among others. But MOOCs is working towards overcoming its shortfalls and with such continuous support it will reach its desired place. The triumph may seem a bit far but with continuous efforts it will reach a phase of global success. A student must be self motivated and set his/her own goal to achieve a desired target.
